Star Wars: Republic Commando
The game is set during the events of the Clone Wars that started at the climax of the movie Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. In the game, the player is expected to take command of an elite Clone commando team. You are the leader of this group and can control your group to a certain extent. You will travel to various locations in the Star Wars universe, including Kashyyyk, Geonosis, and the derelict spacecraft, The Prosecutor.
This game differs from most other FPS that are produced nowadays, as they are centred around the online experience and only put minimal effort into the campaign. Also, SW:RC has lasers, who doesn't like lasers? The multiplayer experience involves the usual Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Assault, and Capture the Flag gameplay. Even nowadays, the online community is not a dead one.
The campaign mode will take around 12 hours to complete, depending on difficulty setting. It is left on a notable cliffhanger that is never resolved, however this is by no means not to buy the game. The gameplay up untill this point is enthralling if played in moderation as excessive employment in the game will lead to a fast burnout. Despite having a plethora of differences compared to a modern day fps, it is still an fps, so the gamegame will get strenuous and extremly boring. However, if you do get bored easily, you can simply bump the difficulty without resetting or starting a new game. However, all this does is give the enemies more health and a higher damage output. More tedious than it is hard. It doesn't have much replay value either.
I think this game is good, but it has its flaws, like every game. I see it as a 6.5/10. I would play it until completion, and after would play the multiplayer every once in a while. I recommend, however buy an unused copy if you wish to play multiplayer as to access it, a key is required. Albeit you may wish to get a pre-owned copy instead as an unused copy can be up to £15/€17/$23 more.
